New advances in the KBBE- Knowledge Based Bio Economy obtained for the bio-transformation of animal-by-products (AB-P) residues into hi-quality hi-value protein components.

The results of key research on scientific methods and system technology by leading intl. organizations in Europe and Russia offer innovative production solutions to the nutrition industry, with elimination of the environmental impact from the production's leftovers. PROSPARE- PROgress in Saving Proteins and Recovery of Energy (www.prospare.eu) is a joint EU-Russian Research project, financed under the 7th Framework Programme (2008 - 2011), fostering innovative recovery of poultry industry leftovers into valuable end products. The PROSPARE consortium includes four reseach groups from the EU (Italy, Belgium) and four from the Russian Federation, coordinated by the University of Parma (Italy), Dept. of Organic and Industrial Chemistry. The Russian partners are coordinated by Bach Inst. of Biochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INBI). The key technologies resulting from the PROSPARE R&D allow enhancing a new FAP-Functional Animal Protein process increasing protein production to 85% hi-quality protein output from a post-slaughtering (+42% on the current technology). An innovative FFP two stages process recovers also Feathers into hi-quality protein meal and components. The end products address more applications in nutrition, health/wellbeing and cosmetics sectors. See the attached description.
